The Clearninghouse for Specialized Media and Technology (CSMT), a unit within the Department of Education's State Special Schools and Services Division, is mandated by the California Legislature to provide materials, equipment and services to handicapped students unable to benefit from the use of conventional print copies of textbooks. Materials available through CSMT are free to residents of California in public schools grades K to 8.
