My name is Eric and I’m a parent of an adorable 6-year-old boy named Holton who is severely impaired due to a brain injury he suffered at 11 weeks old. I’d like to introduce you to a new website that myself and two other like-minded parents created called IHSS Connect in hopes you will share it with your community as a terrific resource for the families you serve.

A little backstory. My son was hurt by his nanny and unfortunately suffered severe traumatic and anoxic brain damage back in 2014. Thankfully, the Westside Regional Center has been part of our journey from the beginning—through the highs and, as you can imagine, many lows. From funding therapies and devices to monthly respite hours for us to have a break. And while the respite hours are necessary, filling that position has often felt impossible these past 5+ years, which is a similar struggle we found when trying to staff the regional center hours he also receives.

So, over the past year while we were all cooped up due to COVID-19, we created an easy-to-use peer-to-peer online marketplace specifically for people with impairments due to disability or age throughout California — www.ihssconnect.com

What is IHSS Connect? Simply put: it’s a safe and secure way to find, interview and hire in-home care providers from IHSS to GGRC to respite care to daycare and more. Finally, an easy way to locate providers near you without using outdated provider lists, sketchy social media groups or online sites that ignore impaired individual’s specific and complex care needs. Our new state-of-the-art website features private chat, enhanced provider searches including map view, a caregiver job center with advanced customizable filters, and the ability to securely send and receive certificates and documents.

Basically, it’s the first of its kind for impaired individuals of all ages who need in-home care — IHSS, and/or respite care. We invite you to visit www.ihssconnect.com so you can give us a spin.

Most importantly, our community will work best if it’s filled with recipients and providers alike. If you find it useful, please share our website (www.ihssconnect.com) on your social media pages and around your community. We appreciate anything you can do to help us spread the word about this new amazing resource.

Thank you for considering being part of our community. Let’s get connected!

Oh, we’re on instagram, too. 😉 Follow us on Instagram
