Who meets the criteria to use the Silver Alert System?

If someone you know is missing and has a developmental disability or intellectual disability, you can request the police to issue a “Silver Alert” REGARDLESS of age.

Senate Bill (SB) 1127, which became effective January 1, 2015, amended the criteria for the issuance of a Silver Alert. Section 8594.10 of the California Government Code (GC) established that a Silver Alert can be activated for an individual that is “developmentally disabled or cognitively impaired” regardless of his or her age.
