Project What! Job Program for Youth with Incarcerated or Deported Parents

The annual application season for Project WHAT! has begun and we need your help recruiting eligible youth. Project WHAT! is a paid youth-led leadership development program for youth whose parents are currently or formerly incarcerated and/or deported. Here’s a brief 3 min video about Project WHAT!. ·        Ages 12-17

·        Parents/guardians are currently or formerly incarcerated and/or deported

·        Paid opportunity for youth ($15-$20/hour)

·        Able to meet in-person at CW offices in Oakland (Food and supplies provided); virtual options are available

·        Youth application is here and flyer attached

·        Teachers and other school officials can refer youth using this special form

·        Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis

·        Priority is for youth who live in San Francisco or Oakland, but we also serve youth in broader Alameda County

·        Youth will have access to an affinity group of young people who have all experienced parental incarceration, will learn creative writing and speaking spills, and will engage in educational and advocacy opportunities on policies that affect their parents incarceration and other aspects of their life.
