The California Department of Public Health is seeking student and family perspectives on mental health in the school setting. These perspectives are being gathered to inform a statewide training webinar for educators to discuss well-being and caring for students in the wake of COVID-19.

The CPDH welcomes written submissions from families and caregivers of K-12 students to address any of the following topics:

  • Feelings and Experiences: What have been the joys and/or stresses of this school year?  How has COVID impacted your child’s state of mind?
  • Resources: What have you found helpful to cope through tough times?  How can schools support you?
  • Peer advice: What are some words of encouragement or advice you can give to other parents/caregivers/students having a hard time?
  • Advocacy: You have a microphone right now to tell people in schools and government what students need now to address stress in their lives life? What do you want to tell them?

Submissions should be sent by email to [email protected] by Thursday, December 1st.

Names will not be shared publicly but a student’s grade level, relationship to the submitter, and broad geographic area may be displayed on the screen, depending on preference.  For example: “ from Father of a 3rd Grader in Southern California”. If folks want to remain completely anonymous, that is fine.
